Baklava is a beautiful pastry with light, flaky layers of crust and a sweet filling, kissed with a honey syrup. Baklava is made with paperthin sheets of phyllo. The dough is layered on the bottom, two layers in the middle and a top layer. Phyllo is alternated with the nut filling to form multiple layers. These ingredients will take your taste buds on a journey through several layers of delight from the delicate phyllo dough with savory butter and nut mixture with a hint of salt finishing with the lemony honey married to cinnamon.

My daughter and I love your baklava!! Not only does this have a wonderful, delectable taste, but it also has a scrumptious and inviting texture: the nuts are hearty, the honey is perfectly sticky & sweet and the delicate phyllo flakes with every bite! The hint of clove that comes through gives such a nice finish to this heavenly treat. It is evident you use only fine ingredients. This is a gift I will share again and again....

I had never heard of this brand of baklava until I recently received a one pound box as a gift. I lived most of my adult life in New York City where I developed a particular fondness for Greek food. I never thought that I would be able to find baklava of this quality locally once I moved to Albuquerque. The balance of flavors and ingredients I think is perfect. Please guys, how about giving us some other wonderful Greek desserts as well?

I think I have now tried baklava in several countries in at least three continents. That includes Greece for several years. I never expected to have one of the best pieces of authentic baclava pastry, I have ever tried, in Albuquerque NM. Yia Yia Maria's is something I will be ordering and sending to my family, I highly recommend it.

We went to the Coffee & Chocolate show today and sampled (and bought) Yiayia Maria's baklava. The filo is so light and the nut mixture is not the sickening sweet I find most baklava's to be. The mix of honey, cinnamon, and clove was just wonderful. So glad we can get the baklava at four locations in ABQ now.
